Bottom of piece has some type of smooth particle board nailed over wood to protect surfaces.

There is a hanging hook securely screwed into the base so that this piece can be hung and displayed on a wall.

Very Good Condition

No chips to wood, cracks, or scratches. Glass top is unscratched and clear, satin embroidery is unfaded and in pristine condition. Inside of case isclean and unfaded, padding is soft and satin lining is not torn, ripped, or worn- no catches or runs in material.

MINOR WEAR- some slight wear from vintage age to wood finish, mirror on inner lid has some silvering due to age, rope trim inside lid is loose in one spot and needs regluing- very easily repairable. Please see photos and zoom, I have uploaded 12 so that you can see the whole piece inside and out from all angles.

Such a unique piece, really gorgeous, I have no idea what the background on this is, it was purchased at an estate sale of an older man that passed away and no one had any idea what this was or its history.

This piece is perfectly usable but is really a work of Art and will look beautiful on display.

This was definitely a custom made piece and I have never seen anything remotely like it before- it may have been a Salesman\'s Sample Case that was taken along to demonstrate caskets for sale or may have been sample demo stock in a funeral home
