It is so very special! How rare to find these in this gorgeous design and condition. The natural fire opal cameo is absolutely wonderful!!! The colors are magnificent - yellow, greens, blues!!! It is deeply carved with a magnificent face and stunning details throughout! The face is so beautifully done - look at the details in the nose, the mouth, the eyes, the extraordinary hair and the laurel leaves. It is truly a masterpiece of carving and design and artisanship! The cameo is set in a 14K gold Victorian stickpin. It could easily be removed and put in to a pendant or ring. I have left it in its original condition. The opal dates to c1860-1890. It is magnificent!!!The opal comes from a prominent New York City estate.

The condition of the opal is excellent. The gold is all in beautiful period condition. The opal is natural and in excellent period condition. There is a tiny flea bite out of the edge at about 2 o\'clock. This is almost impossible to see without a jeweler\'s loop and does not detract from the piece in any way in my opinion, but I wanted to mention it. The opal is 19 mm in diameter. The entire piece is 8.3 cm (3 1/4 inches). It tests for 14K gold.This is a stunning antique jewel with great drama and style. The combination of the extraordinary opal cameo and the Victorian gold work is mesmerizing. Together they create a jewel worthy of the finest collection. It is so immensely wearable either during the day or at the most glamorous affair.
