Outstanding & original Japanese hand-painted manuscript map, Uraga Channel, w/ Steam Frigate, Shipping Routes, & metamorphic detail, 19thc. This is the area that American whaling ships & Commodore Perry\'s squadron came into when Japan was still closed. This highly detailed manuscript map shows all the shipping routes in the area. Map measures 15 X 21 inches (open) with the metamorphic part being 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 inches, and closes to 3 1/2 X 8 inches with the original envelope. Fine colors, good shape, rare & GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC. NOTE: This map was too large for my scanner. It is UNTRIMMED & has Full Margins.
