Stamped on the reverse from Saltzman’s Gallery in DaytonaBeach, Florida.
Henry Saltzman, owner of the gallery died in 1980. He and the gallery were well known for introducing thepublic to current up and coming French artists through “Meet the Artist”Gallery nights.
Jacques Labelle seemed to specialize in these stylizedretro-fashion full figure portraits. I’ve seen him listed as Canadian and as French – maybeFrench Canadian?
This one reminds me of Scarlet O’Hara (especially asportrayed by Carol Burnett, wearing the green tasseled curtains).
In original period wood frame under glass
In good condition.The only issues I find are some age spots in various areas. I can see an area about 1/3 the way downthat looks like the painting “board” was folded at one time as there are somepartial folding creases. Some tears to the paper on the back of the frame. Some bumps to the frame.
