Up for sale is an original Victorian British Royal HorseArtillery Officer’s Scarlet Stable Jacket. The stable or shell jacket, whichincludes gilt piping, is in good condition for its age. The lining is in verygood shape, however the jacket is missing one original ball button. All therest of the silver ball buttons are original and present. As you would expectfrom this period, the jacket is small. Approximately a 36-inch chest, 32-to 33inch waist, 18-inch length and about 23 inches from shoulder to sleeve. Thejacket was purchased in 2012 and only used for an historical display and hassince been carefully stored.

Extremely rare, the Royal Horse Artillery wore manly navyblue jackets through most of their history. However, there were a few Victorianartillery yeomanry regiments, such as the Royal Devonshire, which wore red.This jacket was purchased at an estate sale in 2012 along with about a dozen orso other items from an officer serving in the Royal Artillery. [I was nevergiven his name] This was the only item relating to the Royal Horse Artillery.
