These very historic printed photographic images, made by the US Government in 1890, show “White Horse, Chief of the Otoes (Not in Usual Dress)\" and also “Huma, Second Chief of the Otoes (Not in Usual Dress).\"

Historically the Otoes were a semi-nomadic tribe who lived on the Central Plains along the Missouri River in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa and Missouri. ceding some land to the federal government by treaty, and selling other land, the members of the tribe eventuallyall moved to the Indian Territory (Oklahoma).
This is a great piece of history for the collector of antique Native American memorabilia, a set of early Otoes images published by the U.S. government a century and a quarter ago, in the very year that the Superintendent of the Census declared that the American Frontier no longer existed.The printed notations at the top and bottom indicate that the original photographs from which these images were made were taken at the \"Ponca, Pawnee and Otoe Agency, Oklahma\" by Lenny & Sawyers, Photographers.\"

These two antique images are printed side-by-side on a single sheet, 11 by 8 inches overall, with a blank verso. This was made for inclusion in an official government report to accompany the Eleventh Census of the United States, published in 1890 (and dated at the top). This item is in excellent condition, unblemished by age, and suitable for framing.

This item is an ORIGINAL – IT IS GENUINE, 126 YEARS OLD AND NOT A REPRINT OF ANY SORT! These are not photographs, but prints made by the U.S. government from the original photos a century and a quarter ago and guaranteed to be authentic!
