An amazing pattern and in the theme of the Schrenenschnitte, or also known as \"scissor cuts\". A fine Pennsylvania folk art.

c 1880/90s

Pennsylvania quilt makers were also in a craze over the Hawaiian quilting patterns. They also display the love of this work in this type of applique as shown here.

The quilt is signed, but can\'t make the name out.

Measures 82 x 76 inches

Hand quilted. Thin batting.

The applique is treadle machine sewn. Which was a hard task to do at that time. Certainly a gal showing off her new machine and what it can do. Some reverse applique work too.

Areas along the borders that have worn, also wear to the applique. Age/other spotting.
