$58.00

***This is not a completed Reborn Doll ***

Youare offerding ona PAINTED KITONLY (Joey, by Tasha Edenholm). It includes the head,3/4arms and full legs. The entire kitwas painted withGenesis Heat-Set Paints & Varnishes.Thelips, nose, ears and nails have been glossed for added realism. If you notice, Joey\'s eyes are two different shades of brown, so I have listed him as a baby with the condition known as Heterochromia Iridium (one iris is a different color from the other). This makes Joey unique and absolutely one of a kind. How can you not fall in love with this little guy.

Reborn dolls can be expensive. My hope is that someone will purchase this kit at a reasonable price and will build their reborn doll to keep and enjoy as their own. However; I alsorealize that some buyers may want topurchase my kitsto complete themand sellthem for a profit, and I don\'t mind that at all. This is a hobby for menot a business, and I enjoypainting kits, but not necessarilycompleting thereborn processper se. However, if you are going to sell the reborn doll once you complete it, I do ask that you give me the credit forpaintingthe kit. I don\'t think this is an unreasonable request since most people don\'t like taking credit for the hard work of others. I hope you understand and can comply with my request and wishes.

Followingis thelist of suppliesyou will need in order to complete your very own Reborn Doll (all items must be purchased separately and are NOT includedin this sale):

My Story: Four yearsago, my daughter told me she wanted a Reborn doll for her birthday. What is that, I asked? A few days later, my daughters had their very own reborns. During their \"bonding\" period with the new babies, I fell in love with the art. The realism, the detail, the weight, the delicate beauty...I was fascinated!! I decided to give it a try. I researched everything having to do with the art. After studying hundreds of pictures, taking dozens of on-line tutorials, and convincing my husband that it was okay to spend a small fortune on my new hobby, I was ready. I ordered all my supplies....blank kits, paints, varnishes, glosses, brushes, sponges, paint thinners, drying racks, needles, mohair, thermometer, glue, magnets, glass beads, doe suede bodies, poly-fil and an oven. No, I wasn\'t kidding when I said \"small fortune\". This is not a cheap hobby.

My Reality Check: Having no artistic bone in my body, I wasn\'t shocked when my first few tries failed miserably. I produced stiff, overstuffed dolls with uneven skin tones, broomstick eyelashes, eye-balls gazing in opposite directions, and pluggy, porcupine hair. YIKES!!

My New Reality: My persistence finally paid off. I got better and better with each doll I created. And then it happened....a friend at work wouldn\'t touch my reborn because \"she looked too real\". People at the bank admired by \"sleeping baby\". Transforming a blank kit into an amazing, life-like reborn was and still is my number one goal, and I did it! Hearing the words \"oh my gosh, she looks sooo real\" is like music to my ears and it never gets old.

My Method: I use Genesis Heat-Set paints, glosses and varnishes. I mix the paints myself until the desired colors are achieved. Each thin, translucent layer of paint is applied to the kit and then baked. Each doll has between 20-50 layers of paint and takes between 30-80 hours to complete. Once the lifelike newborn skin tone is achieved, I add mottling, blotching, broken capillaries, veining, stork bites and even some tiny milk spots. I paint the eyebrows and tip the nails. I apply a varnish to the entire kit and bake it one more time. I then move on to the head. I map the hairline on the head and either paint the hair, seal and bake it, or I root the head with human hair or mohair. Using a small gauge needle, I root the hair one or two strands at a time. The hair is sealed twice with glue inside the head. I gloss the nails, lips, ears, nostrils and corners of the eyes. I root and seal the eyelashes. If the baby is awake, I put the eyes in and adjust them until they are looking at me. This is when the baby comes to life and I fall in love. I fill the limbs, body and head with fine glass beads encased securely in a nylon stalking and fiber-fil (I adjust everything until baby feels cuddly, heavy and real). The weight is normally between 6 ounces and 10 pounds, depending on the size of the baby, which can vary between 7 inches (ultra micro preemie) and 28 inches (toddler).

My Passion: I found something I love to do. All my babies are unique, one-of-a-kind works of art. I pour not only hours, but my entire heart into each baby I create. From the top of their perfectly swirled heads to the bottom of their tiny pink toes.... I am committed to creating something beautiful and precious.

My response: For the past two years,I have been selling my reborns to friends, co-workers, via word-of-mouth, on YouTube, Facebook and . I have dozens of happy customers across the country. Here are some of their comments...
