Considerthis veryspecial pair alargesigned SteubenLeaping Dolphin with it's companion the Swimming Dolphin.Thefirst Steuben dolphin designs from the 1940's, insuperb as new condition with no scratches, no display bottom scratches,no chips, no damageor gluing onto the side fins or rippled dorsal and tailfins. Earlycreations by the lateGeorge Thompson(mid centurymaster ofmany Steuben favorites.)This largepair would be agorgeous addition to your home on the water or a treasured gift for someone important in your life.

The large and heavyLeaping Dolphin is approx. 6"tall and approx. 3lbs of sparkling crystal. TheSwimming dolphin is approx. 7" long and approx. 2.5 lbs. Each hascomplex detailing to tax the skills of the glass artists,with applied eyes, fins, rippled tail and dorsal fins.Each is correctly signedSteuben in script. Each will be wrapped in it's vintage light gray flannel Steuben bagandfine vintage Steuben box with carebooklet. The winning buyer will be thrilled with these works of glassmaking artistry.

These earliest collector worthy Steuben Dolphin sculptures arelistedwith a veryfair pricefor two rarelarge vintagefigurines in new condition. (Steuben recently had one dolphindesignapprox. this size in the 2011 catalog and itretailed for $3500 before taxes.)

Steuben Glass was the premier American glass company founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. It ranked as the world's foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glasswas handmade by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Steuben glasswas frequently the United States' gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no "seconds," items that did not meet their exacting standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben remains a recognizedluxury brand andthe ultimate in art glass.
