Gorgeous Pair Embossed Rococo/Louis XV truly fabulous Pair of Antique French Sterling Silver Salt & Pepper Shaker or Sugar Caster, finely crafted by Paillard Frères active 1868 till 1888 in Paris. The sugar casters have gorgeous baluster form, beautifully adorned with embossed decoration in Rococo/Louis XV style, including rocaille scallop borders, scrolling, flower and foliage motifs. They are standing on a round pedestal foot with scallop border decoration. The detachable top is nicely pierced and chased. No initial or monogram engraved.As hallmarks we have the French Minerva No.1 on each part, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver .950 purity, used in Paris since 1838. This is the best quality sterling silver in the world, purer than standard .925 sterling. One of the caster has Boar\'s head mark, too, among Minerva No.1 mark. The maker\'s mark is that of \"Paillard Frères\", 31 rue Chapon, active in Paris 1868-1888.This fabulous pair is a magnificent showpiece and rarity for the collector of Antique silver. Very Good to Excellent Condition. One of the sugar caster\'s cap has a tiny chip on the connecting point, which is noticeable only on close inspection. Otherwise in excellent condition less than usual light scratches from long years of light use. Please refer the detail photos I added.
