Pair of antique (possibly 19th century) hand carved wooden wall sconces
This stunning pair of quality wall sconces were purchased in France and are in the Breton style
They depictthe head and shoulders of a man and woman in traditional dress. The bottom finialof the plaques are in the design of an acorn and leaves.
Their hands are resting on top of an ornateprotruding arm. A hole has been made through from the back of the plaque through the arm. This would probablyhave been made for electrical wire to be threaded through to make them into light sconces. Thereare no electrical parts present.
Each plaque has been signed with what looks like E Le Neuthiel. The back of the plaque has a metalring for wall hanging.
These are absolutely stunning pieces and cannot be fully appreciated from the photos. They could be used as ornamental wall hanging plaques as they are or could be transformed into lights by an electrician if desired.
They are in very good antique condition with some age relatedsplitting to the wood. They would make an extremely impressive addition to any treen collection or would enhance your French style home décor.
