Our youngest daughter was given this Hello Kitty item as a gift from a Japanese exchange student who was staying with us in the1990s. It has been put into safe storagefor many years and is as “new” as the day she first received it.
We are not sure what its function is.The top comes off (see photos), and thereappears to be a red ink pad that is still sealed on the top of the base. There are also two holes in which a couple ofbamboo stamps or paint brushes may have been stored. We’re not sure about this.
Assembled, this unique little piece stands 4-1/2” high, and it is 3” wide at the base. We can find no manufacturer\'s stamp anywhere on the Kitty, but perhaps the Japanese writing on the front is an indicator.
