$1200.00

PHILIP REISMAN (New York, 1904-1992) VEGETABLE SELLER - Oil on Masonite This is an exceptional painting by the well known Polish / American artist Phillip Reisman. It is not signed but I am attributing this to him based on the style and use of color. It measures 18 by 40 inches not counting the frame (26 by 48 with frame). The work is oil on Masonite and is framed in what looks like the original frame. Circa 1940s. Great use of color. The scene shows a man leading a horse pulling a fruit and vegetable cart in front of a Pawn shop with a young man trailing and picking up fallen merchandise.

Philip Reisman was a Social Realist painter who worked for The Works Project Administration (WPA) in the 30s and depicted the street life in New York City and also worked in Cape Ann, Mass.

CONDITION: Good. Untouched original condition with original frame.
