PIRELLI TYRES Original 1961 Dealer Sign. Very good condition for it\'s age. Only very minor rubs, scratches or marks. Still bright yellow; edge trim looks to be original beige, not a faded white; black excellent; red slightly faded but displays nicely. Back is original black color. I have not attempted to cleaned or enhance this sign in any way...it is an original off a garage wall. Sign is nice and straight and flat..no bulges or rips or tears. Two mounting holes have grommets and two do not. I don\'t know if that is the way it came or if 2 are lost or 2 added. Please fee photos for more detail.

A very rare and unusual original \"survivor\" collectible.
I particularly like the older spelling of \"tyre\" rather than the modern \"tire\".
Pirelli tires / tyres were used as original equipment in 1950\'s & 60\'s on such cars as:Lamborghini, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari as well as other manufacturers worldwide like MG, Rover Group and Lotus Cars
Make a great present!! for the driver, owner, collector who has \"everything\"......? and Christmas IS COMING..From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, here\'s the whole interesting article.
The Pirelli Cinturato is a Pirelli-developed historic sporting tire that was the first example of a wrap-around radial tire structure, that would gain great sporting use and from which most modern tyres are based upon. The five-times Formula One World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio called the Pirelli Cinturato \"Extraordinary\"and would race on it many times in the remainder of his career.
A cross comparison between a standard radial of the time and the Pirelli CinturatoFirst developed in 1952 under the name Pirelli Cintura, changing name in 1963 to the Cinturato the tyre was composed of two or three carcass plies of cords laid at an angle of 90 degrees to the beads, and a belt of several plies laid circumferentially under the tread. Without a belt the 90-degree plies would produce a casing which would greatly increase its sectional height on inflation. The belt, being inextensible, prevented the casing increasing in height when inflated, and the tyre virtually maintains the same dimensions as the mould in which it goes through vulcanisation. The belt is kept under severe tension, and the tread retains its flatter profile even when the tyre is inflated.
The Pirelli Cinturato may be compared to a wheel in which the rim is attached to the hub by means of fine spokes. The tread and belt are in effect the rim; the 90-degree or radial cord plies are the spokes; and the bead is the hub. The inextensible belt and the radial casing cords are the combined factors which give the Cinturato tyre its special properties.[3] The different geometric arrangement of the Cinturato carcass results in greater deformation (bulging) in the area of the tyre section which is under load, as opposed to previous radial tyres of the period. This causes no disadvantage nor does it result in greater tire casing fatigue, for the tyre is designed to function at these increased flexions. It was particularly important not to judge the need for inflation by the tyre\'s appearance due to this design. Only the evidence of a reliable pressure gauge should have been accepted; otherwise over-inflation became a possibility. The benefits of this structure and what would make the Cinturato unique is that rather than having the dynamic wave form behind the road contact area, it instead forms on the side wall increasing stability whilst also allowing the heat generated by this flex to be easily dispersed.
During the 1950s, 1960\'s and 1970\'s the Pirelli Cinturato was the original equipment tyre on many exotic Italian cars including Lamborghini, Lancia, Alfa Romeo, Maserati, Ferrari as well as other manufacturers worldwide like MG, Rover Group and Lotus Cars. By the end of 1968 Pirelli was exporting or directly manufacturing the Cinturato in as many as 137 countries worldwide.
