DESCRIPTION

This is an attractive, vintage sterling silverthimble. It features a traditional punched dot / honeycomb pattern to the topand upper part of the shaft with a contrasting plain band below. The rim iscast with delicate, Art Nouveau style decoration. The interior has a giltfinish.

The marks on the plain band are B LD, 925, ∆ (Birmingham import mark)and B, which is the date letter for 1976. The centre to thetop has a Star of David symbol which I have seen on thimbles from Portugal but, equally, it may have possibly originated in Israel.

An interesting and appealing thimble for collectors.
