Just purchased from a private collection is the rare Pace Skil-Flip gambling machine; A Five Cent ¢ denomination from the factory.

Pace Skil Flips are much harder to find than Rockola five Jacks and the like. It\'s even harder to find a Pace in this all restored original condition.

All of the fragile Bantam decals are duplicated originals. Colors on the cabinet are true original type. Castings, and a mastery remake 1/4 sawed-oak wooden cabinet back are perfect, 100% right down to the lock and keys.

It just doesn\'t get any better than this. This machine plays and pays perfectly. All of the little problems that you see with most of these are not on this one. No tears around the paper decals, no switched lock, no broken parts of the front casting, no repairs and no splits in the cabinet. No restorations involved or needed, it\'s all been done to this original out of the time machine of yesteryear, and as perfect as you can get in a real original!

Pace Skil Flips are Rare enough as it is, but this one is truly the \"Holy Grail.\" The measurements are approximately 20\" high, 18\" wide, 10\" deep. It weighs about 30 lbs.

As a super solid depression-era piece of history; How it survived in such perfect shape is remarkable. It is approximately 85 years old; and still is really fun to play.

It will only go up in value. \"Collect the best, and you will always have a good investment- collect junk, and it will always be junk!\"

Rockola introduced the Five Jack\'s (which the Skil Flip replicates, but with more architectural thought and labor in the front casting) in December 1930 as a penny or a nickel gambling machine; the Great Depression had just begun a year ago, and over the next 9 years would see American industrial production drop by 50 %; the drought of 1931-1939 wreaking havoc with the Dust Bowl over farms on the Great Plains; and increased unemployment to around 24 % in the early thirties. Banks would fail, the FDIC and the SEC would be established, and gangsters would become a major adjunct to society during that time.

The appearance of Rock-Ola Five Jack\'s machines operating on a penny are more prevalent and they usually have more wear on the cabinets and mechanism than this prime 5¢ Pace example.

The beautiful quarter-sawed oak cabinet and the 1/4 sawn oak back door are in exemplary condition; the mechanism which also includes the center piston and the anti-cheat weight and fingers is all there and operating.

Curiously on the back of the front casting is stamped the letters A B T. ABT manufacturing was also based in Chicago and operating at the same time making their own aluminum castings, could they have subcontracted and made this casting for Pace and Rockola ?

In an overview, original type of paint and completeness of everything mechanical, if this is the last, rarest, and for-fun machine you buy, it is money well invested.

If you have the front casting of a Rockloa five jacks, it will bolt onto the front of this machine with no machining needed.

If you are looking for a beautiful restored early gambling machine, ready to display and use upon arrival, this one is a commendable selection.
