~ Pair Of 16th Century Continental Carved Oak Panels ~A lovely pair of hand carved continental oak panels dating to the 16th century.They have been beautifully carved in relief, with portraits in profile of a soldier and a woman, with scroll work and leaf detailing.The worn edges suggest they were once part of a grand piece of oak furniture.Each piece has been fitted with a modern hook to the reverse for hanging.~ Dimensions ~Each panel measures 15 ½ inches (39.5cm) by 8 ¾ inches (22cm) and weigh 565g and 575g.~ Condition ~The panels have the odd chip and worn edge and some areas of prior woodworm damage as you would expect for something of this age - but overall the panels are in great condition. They have developed a deep patina.
