Here you are offerding on onerarepairof aman and womanhand carved Bulul figures from the Philippines. These figuresareIfugao tribal art from Cordillera central northern Luzon, Philippines.These Bululsare a carved wooden pair ofceremonial figure used to protect the rice crop from spirits, insure a plentiful harvest, and to protect a family form sickness. They are a stylized representation ofancestors, often depicted as sitting or standing. Of the many tribal groups of Northern Luzon, the Ifugao are the most renowned for their carvings, especially of Bululs.This pair stand 24\" tall and the base measures 5X4 1/2\" and are in excellent condition.

These figuresare from the Dr. Raymond Malay collection, Philippines andare early to mid 20th century.
