These fantastic vases measure 8" high and are in exceptionally good condition. No apparent damage or wear and no repairs. There show traditional scenes of processions and have foo lion handles. The gilding is raised in places giving them a high quality look. They are very similar in appearance to top quality satsuma wares. Full 9 character signature. They were made in Kutani, Japan in the early Meiji period around 1880. You will find no better examples of these early wares. These are made from a fine porcelain, unlike Satsuma wares that are made from earthenware.More photos are available if you need them - Just ask.Fully insured UK postage will be £8.
