Here is a RARE and important1930 Patent Date HANNA BATRITE “RUTH” GEORGIA DRIVER TA 55 STEEL TEMPERbaseball bat. The Hanna company in Athens Georgia supplied bats to some majorleaguers during the late 1920s into the early 1930s – RUTH, GEHRIG and FOXXamong others. The bat is 35” long and weighs 37.7 Ounces now after 87 years –it is speculated that a bat like this could lose 4-5 Ounces over the decades –this bat was likely closer to 41 Ounces or so in 1930. There is a crack – a cleancrack with no loss of material – the bat certainly merits a professionalrestoration – it is very clean and when held tightly it just about disappears.The crack originates about 12” up from the knob and travels, tapering off to athin line, to the near side of the “BAT” logo. Babe Ruth ordered this very samebat, same weight and length, tempered ash etc – and used this model during theglory years.
