Please Note: I am currently traveling and this particular item is being posted with a 10-day handling time for that reason. Please contact me for more information / to arrange shipping.

This piece is fresh from a private collection. It has been in the hands of a single owner who purchased it from Perry Shorty in the 1990s. Perry Shorty only began making jewelry in 1988, so this is some of his earlier work. It is a privilege to offer it for sale in such great condition.

This is an original piece by Perry Shorty and is stamped \"P Shorty\" on the back of the buckle. It includes 10 butterflies, 9 conchos, and the buckle.

Each concho is 2-3/8\" wide and 2-5/8\" long. Each butterfly measures 7/8\" wide and 2-3/16\" long . The buckle is 2-1/4\" wide and 2-1/2\" long.

I looked over each of the 20 individual silver pieces carefully and there is no damage to speak of -- This belt was remarkably well taken care of. Even the area where the buckle-lever lands is not damaged. The silver pieces shows very light surface wear (occasional tiny mark in the surface of the silver, like any vintage piece will have) and a patina I left entirely as it is -- I have not cleaned this piece at all. This belt was never dented or hit with any substantial impact and will arrive to you a vintage piece in lovingly well cared for condition.

The leather belt itself is 39\" long (just the leather portion.) There are three holes at 26\", 27\", and 30\"; the holes are small and contained, and the next owner can make their own. You can see that the belt is pictured with a concho and butterfly removed; that is just how the original owner wore the belt.

Shipping I spoke with UPS and they can insure this item, and including the shipping charges I was quoted $218. That is the amount you will pay. This amount is non-refundable.

This last week I had the joy of visiting the Wheelwright Museum in Santa Fe, NM, where I saw one of Perry Shorty\'s belts on display. You can see my hand there pointing to it, it\'s the one my finger is

About Thumb Out

That picture of me is from the happiest time of my life.

I started on a few years ago. Butmy story starts before that. In 2010, Iwas a manager for a business in Chicago. I wascompletely unhappy and stuck. I finally reached my breaking point so I gave notice and headed to the Big Island ofHawai\'i to live on a farm and plant trees.

I didn\'t know it then, but I would end up staying on the Big Island for a full year.

Finally living my dream

Half way through the year,I left the safety of the farm and camped on the island\'s beaches, living out of my backpack. I woke up every morning with no destination. I followed the beauty of the island and trusted my intuition. Hitchhiking became a way of life. When a stranger does something nice for you, it makes you think the whole world is kind-hearted. Imagine starting each day that way, it\'s a wonderful way to live.

And that\'s where the \"ThumbOut\" name comes from.Younever knowwhich car will be your ride, soKeep your thumb out!

The most powerful adventure was my solo journey to see flowing lava. Iwalked 3 miles over cooled lava fields under a full moon. I reached the live flow at 1am and watched as new earth poured out of the ground . Seeing lava in real life has been a childhood dream. Once I gota taste of this kind of adventure, I never went back to my old way of living. But I wasn\'t sure what was next for me...

Today

I now split my time between Thailand and the US, and I haven\'t had a boss in years! Location independent income started out as a distant dream that is now a reality. My dad taught me this business and my mom is my working partner, handling things on the ground when I\'m traveling. I love dealing in vintage jewelry, not least because its fans are kind and reasonable. I meet many people on my travels who live this lifestyle, and I have an interest in helping others take the leap as well. It is an amazing time to be alive and have access to the freedom available. If you\'re considering taking the leap, let me know! Many ers have sent me their storyafter reading mine and I love hearing from them.

As they say in Thailand, \"Chok-Dee\" (Good Luck!); Keep your thumb out, and carry on,

- Clayton
