Marvel Comics POLARIS Die-Cast Lead FIGURINE Statue. This rare figure is only available in the United Kingdom and is near impossible to find here in the states. Polaris stands 3 1/2 inches in height atop her MARVEL base and is hand cast out of lead, fully painted and ready to display. Each of these LIMITED EDITION figurines is individually stamped on the bottom of the base with its own individual number. These Mini Lead Statues are awesome. Once the researchers have passed the artwork and reference to the sculptor he begins work – a single figure can take weeks to complete! The sculpt begins life as a skeletal frame, the flesh and bones added to it little by little until the character starts to form. Amazing care is taken to capture the heroic or villainous nature of each character – down to the finest detail. Once the master sculpt is completed it is hand painted – using the official Marvel style guide as reference. THIS IS FOR THE FIGURINE AND COLLECTOR\'S BOX ONLY.It has never been displayed or handled and comes to you in perfect condition. It is a must for your collection. Created by Arnold Drake, Don Heck, Werner Roth and Jim Steranko, Polaris first appeared in The X-Men #49 (October, 1968). For most of her publication history, she has been a superheroine, and a member of either the X-Men or one of its sister groups, such as X-Factor, though from 1987 to 1989, she was possessed by a villainous telepathic entity, and functioned as the supervillain Malice.
A mutant, Polaris can control magnetism, much like the supervillain Magneto, whom she long suspected to be her biological father, a fact confirmed in Uncanny X-Men #431 (2003), making her also the half sister of the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. She has also had a complicated long term relationship with the X-Man Havok, to whom she was engaged.
