Here we have a delightful late 19th century oil on board head portrait of a chestnut horse in a field. The work is superbly housed in a heavy, fluted cove gilt frame with acanthus corners, also known as Second Empire frame, dating to a similar period.
The painting is in a very good to an excellent antique condition with a few light cracks and other minor marks. The frame is also in a very good antique condition with minor chips, restoration marks and cracks.
