According to the information we received with this item, it is the following: "a note originating in Peterboro Canada and payable at the New York State Bank in Albany, in the United States. Such instruments were taxable at the inland exchange rate. This $2000 note was due in 3 months, taxable at ten times the rate of $.03/$200, the tax properly paid with a lilac 30-cent inland exchange first issue revenue stamp. This document is in great condition and is dated 1st June 1863!
