Burmite (Burmese) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs and is being mined in the Hukawng Valley in Myanmar (Burma).InDecember of 2016,a portion of the tail of a small dinosaur wasreported in a piece of burmite amber!

In June 2017, a nearly complete extinct bird was reported in a piece of burmite amber!

This is a fully polished piece of burmite (Burmese) amber that contains a nicely preserved, psocopteran insect with odd, dark bubbles. This insect may have landed on a dinosaur!
