I have compiled a wealth of unique treasures, antiques and artworks from Asia with a fantastic and mysterious history from travels, China, Japan, Bali, Tibet, Burma/Myanmar, Cambodia, Taiwan, Philippines, Laos and Vietnam.

My fascination with Asia inspired me to move here from England and become an avid collector/buyer of Asian oriental antique statues, carvings, puppets, bronzes and unique objects, other items have been from years of collecting and accumulating from estates, private collections and sales.

I have just bought this quality carved pair made fromsolid petrified fossil wood from Burma, tropical hardwood with opalized mineralization and excellent cell structure. and carved with fine craftsmanship. Nice eye appeal and a very collectable one off piece. See bottom photos for 2 other pieces I have just listed along with 4 crystal quartz Buddha heads carved by the same carver. If you look at the side profile you can see the shape of the tree.

I had the honor to meet this master craftsman mineral carver that carved these 3 pieces, in his 70\'s when I met him, he was a refugee from Burma and literally lived 5 minutes away from the Thai Burmese border and had not been across to see members of his family in 20 years due to him being scared for his life. I sat with him for 3 hours talking and watching him carve, for me this was pure joy. I bought 4 pieces from him that I sold on . I went back 3 months later to find that he had passed away, these are the last 3 pieces he made that his daughter sold to me, I have owned these over 3 years now and his work has become very collectable by Thai\'s and Burmese collectors as he was one of last master craftsman doing this sort of work, check and see the few poor poor quality carved fossil pieces that are being sold. The 4 crystal quartz Buddha heads were also carved by him over 25 years ago, his daughter told me they were part of his personnel collection, there were 10 in all and she let me buy 4

Burma is renowned for the abundance of its natural resources: natural gas along its coastline, timber in the northeast, jade, rubies and sapphires in the central and northern parts of the country.

There is a reason why Burma is called the Golden Land: there is gold everywhere, underground and in the nation\'s waterways. An estimated 53 tons of it form the Stupa of the great Shwedagon Pagoda in Rangoon.

Now there\'s another treasure to add to the list: petrified wood. Across wide swaths of central Burma in the plains west of Mandalay there\'s a rush to dig up and sell petrified wood, especially to China where it is said to bring good luck, one good thing at least the Chinese cannot put this petrified wood on the endangered species list like they are doing with Elephants, Tigers, Rhino\'s and many other beautiful animals due to their outdated beliefs, you are a 3rd of the world\'s population! if you want an aphrodisiac then buy some viagra.

PLEASE NOTE

Due to the size, shape and being slightly fragile, some pieces will have to be specially wrapped, boxed and insured for loss only which shows in the shipping cost, I do not intend to take any chances with these pieces, better safe than sorry, it would be heart breaking to think it arrived broken and deserves looking after.

There are a lot of retired American, English, Germans etc living here in Thailand enjoying their last days in hotter tropical climes.
