Quality Sterling Silver Mug Tankard Christening Cup From The Squire Antique 1913 For Sale
A very good quality sterling silver mug. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1912 and the makers marks JR for John Rose. It has a traditional design and interesting has been inscribed ‘Arthur Phillips from THE “SQUIRE” 24thApril 1913', i.e. presented in the peaceful time just over a year before the horrors of WWI. It is in super condition being free from dings splits and repairs. It measures 3 5/8 inches (9cms) tall by a touch under 2.5 inches (6.1cms) diameter at the widest and weighs 2.6 troy ounces (79 grams). A good quality interesting piece.
