A rare and interesting Late Gothic Carved Oak panel depicting a Gentleman in a cloth hat, possibly a Jester with the feather hanging down in the front. Almost certainly English circa 1500, this I feel predates the traditional renaissance portrait panels with its more plain simple decoration and the Tudor Roses in each corner rather than more decorative carving.
23.5 x 27 cm
Condition, as one would expect from 500 years of use. trimmed down all sides pieces of oak have been inserted top and bottom right. and there is considerable old worm with some losses through this particularly along the bottom edge.
