Now onto the item forsale.

For sale is a very rare and very hard to find William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt presidential campaign button from 1900.

This button includes many of the campaign slogans from the election and reads Employment for Labor A FULL DINNER BUCKET SOUND MONEY GOOD MARKETS with Prosperity below the images.

As y\'all certainly know, William H. McKinley was assassinated in 1901 leading to Theodore Roosevelt\'s presidency.

This campaign button is a very hard one to find. We can\'t find any examples of this button in this color on here currently or in the last 90 days and we could only find a couple on other sites. Most of the buttons like these have a blue background versus this orange or rust color background on this pin. Other McKinley/Roosevelt from the same era buttons have a similar color background.

The other buttons we found like this one were made by Whitehead & Hoag Co. and included a paper over the pinback with the company information on it. This button doesn\'t have the paper covering anymore, but you can definitely see the union stamp on the back. It is on the left of the pin about 1/4 of the way down from the top. Most of it has worn off over the decades, but you can clearly ready UNION above part of a symbol which we would think is safe to assume was a union symbol at one time. We tried to hunt what union the symbol represented, but didn\'t have any luck.

This button in excellent condition with some slight wear on the metal on the back that you expect to see on these older buttons.

As you can see in the pictures, there are some reddish spots on the button. We looked at it closely with a jeweler\'s loupe and can\'t tell if it was a pen that made the marks, was a discoloration when manufactured, or turned colors over the last 100+ years. It does look to be under the heavy plastic coating they put on these campaign buttons though.
