FINAL LIST FOR NOW!!!A SUPER RARE, Aesthetic Period tin. This is a ca 1880 goldwashed over tin, Tobacco tin. It contained John J. Bagley
(Tobacconist who eventually became Governor of Michigan), CUT CAVENDISH Tobacco.
The tin is 6\" 3.5\" x2 \"The front and back of the HINGED lid have the same Chinoiserie/Aesthetic graphic and message. There is an Oriental vase with cherry blossoms(?) and various scroll motifs. The notice claims that Bagley acts in accordance with the Law..that this tin never be refilled and sold again. Michigan is abbreviated MICH and the term first district is used.
As per condition....very good+. There are scrapes to gold wash...revealing tin base. There are buckles and denting along 2/3 of the lid...and a tiny pea-shaped divet . It is able to open/close with minor adjustments.
