This is a very rare early piece- mid 19th century version of a \"St. Joseph\'s Cord\" which started in late 1600s Antwerp when an afflictednun who was on her deathbed was miraculously cured by her prayers for St. Joseph\'s intercession.St. Joseph, protector of the family holds baby Jesus in his arms on one side of the miraculous medal with\" Heil.\"ige\" Joseph Bitte Fur Uns\"German for \"Holy Joseph Pray For Us\"Side two of the miraculous medal depicts a guardian angel (archangel) protecting two children and towering above a snake (the enemy)Reading \"HL Schutzenel mein, lass mich dir empfohlen sein\"German for \"Holy Guardian Angel, Let Me Be Recommended To You\"
The brass miraculous medal is beautifully cast and finely detailed and measures 1\" in length
It is all original and adorned with gorgeous milk glass and blue glass antique Czech beads.
The cord is large and long 26.5\" total or 20.5\" flat from top to bottom
