This is a very fine quality Beautiful Antique FrenchRococoHighly Ornate Solid Silver Oval Picture Frame, Napoleon Era circa 1800, making this wonderful Frame over 200 years old. The detailing to this Oval Picture Frame is superb, the front of this wonderful Oval Picture frame is breath taking with embossed decoration, the outer border to the front has the most stunningly detailed fruits and foliage, then you will see a border of delicate bead work this then draws your attention to the most highly ornate egg & dart decoration which was a very popular design int the 1800\'s, this then has a thin cross hatch design to the inside edge, all this draws your attention to the top of this amazing frame where you find the most beautiful Cherub\'s - putti\'s to the top, they are so very detailed, they seem to be holding a french banner or Flag with scroll work to the very top, to the centre of the banner you will see an oval cartouche that carries 3 embossedfleur-de-lis, its breath taking, the wonderful decoration doesnt end there , on turning the frame over you will see the most beautiful bright cut engraved back panel with scrolls and foliage in abundance, this has a silver ornate easel to hold the frame firm and steady, it still retains a glass to the front, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb, there is a very small hallmark to the edge on the back but to small to make out, this i believe would have once held a miniature portrait and would have once belonged to a wealthy Georgian Family many many years ago,this is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice,

Measurements......12 cm height...nearly 8 cm across, it would hold a picture of nearly 8 cm by 5.5 cm in an oval

Weight...93.5 gram

Condition,....beautiful condition , a wing and one foot seem to be missing, but it doesnt detract and isnt obvious unless pointed out, just mentioned for accuracy
