An estate find.This is a stunning antique figural bird, eagle, owl, or maybe a falcon? Carved and hand painted needle case/etui. I believe it is celluloid. The beak is carved and applied. It is a butterscotch color, and I think it may be Bakelite. Has an aged patina. A collector will know the answers. The design is stylized feathers around the back, with lighter chest feathers and two longlegs endingwith talons on the front. It has deep set eyes that I suspect may have had glass in them at one time. The threads are perfectly matched for the screw type top, so that when fully closed, the patterns match perfectly. There are some sewing needles inside as found. The bottom is double impressed with \"Depose France\", and \"Made In France\". The piece is 3\" high, and other than possibly having glass eyes at one time, it is in very good condition. It is a rare and unique work of art.
