Here is a big (5 7/8”or 149 mm), feeling solid, stunningsterling silver spoon from Danville Illinois dating back to years around 1900featuring figural handle in the shape of two crossed two rifles or muskets. Inthe bowl it has embossed very detailed image of large building complex, thewriting is BIRD’S EYE VIEW OF SOLDIERS HOME, DANVILLE ILL. Measures 5 7/8” long(149 mm) and in excellent used condition, except perhaps on the back of bowl ithas few tiny dings which do not affect the image in the bowl at all. On theback marked STERLING and has hallmark with the old mark of H on a pennant forMechanics Sterling Company, which was subsidiary of Watson Newell Co.
