RARE Circa 1899 Heisey “Groove & Slash” Glass Biscuit / Cookie Jar, Antique:

Beautifulfire polished Heisey Glass in the hard to find circa 1899 pattern #1250 GrooveAnd Slash. This biscuit or cracker / cookie jar is rare with the original lidwhich has no finial to grab on to and so was more susceptible to being droppedand broken. The jar measures 6 ¾” tall including the original lid, 5” diameter.The bottom is ground and polished flat, see bottom pic. No chips or cracks onthe jar base, crystal clear. The lid is perfect except for 1 little chip orflake on the inner rim, see close-up. The chip is very smooth and could simplybe how it was taken out of the mold, and is hard to see or notice. There is noHeisey signature on this jar as Groove and Slash is a pre-signature pattern,made right before Heisey started signing items in 1901.

NOTE- Please be aware that antique or vintage glass items may haveslight, in-the-making imperfections such as straw marks, tiny internal inclusions,tiny internal air bubbles, very, very slight irregularities, and such. Thesekind of very minor flaws are not considered damage by experienced,knowledgeable collectors & are not a valid reason for claiming the item isdamaged or not as described if not noted. Also -- a friend knowledgeable about ABC (American Brilliant Cut Glass circa 1900) identified this for me as \"Alhambra.\" There are definitely elements of the \"Alhambra\" pattern by Meriden, mainly the Greek Key design, but I\'m not absolutely certain that this is an \"Alhambra\" item since it is such a rare form & is not pictured, to my knowledge, in any ABC reference book. Thus, \"Alhambra\" is an educated guess. In any case this is a very rare and unusual item of ABC!
