This exciting sale is for a very rare 213 year olde English George III sterling silver mechanical spring-loaded pusher type Stilton cheese scoop by renowned London silversmiths Eley & Fearn dated 1805. This scoop is at least three lifetimes olde! Remarkably, this fine rare example remains in excellent operating and overall antique condition after over 200 years! There are no breaks or repairs, only a few very minor dings to the un-monogrammed sterling silver handle as seen in the photographs.

Fully hallmarked at both the handle base and solid sterling arm. The hallmarks at top of arm are \"WE WF\" for William Eley and William Fearn of London followed by the duty mark, lion passant and date letter code \"K\" for 1805. The handle has three hallmarks; the duty mark, lion passant and matching date letter code \"K\" as seen in the photographs. It has never held a monogram, a real plus for the collector!

This rare and highly collectible antique Eley & Fearn of London George III mechanical Stilton cheese scoop remains in great operating condition. The \"pusher\" at the scoop end is pushed down on a spring-loaded sterling barrel with the squarish shaped thumb pusher at base of handle. It slides down along the scoop to push off the cheese, then retracts back. Some help is needed to fully retract the pusher. After all, it is 213 years olde, which is at least three lifetimes, and probably closer to four!

The scoop is quite large, with an overall length of 10\". The handle is 3 3/4\" long and fits perfectly in the hand. The lower mechanical arm and scoop is 6 1/4\" long. The deeply curved \"shovel\" end is 1 3/4\" long x 1 3/8\" wide. It has a total weight of 126 full grams fine sterling silver!
