Rare is overused on but this one really is. In fact, this is the only one of these I have ever seen. For sale is an Elgin 17-size keywind/keyset Inter-Ocean pocket watch in the original coin silver signed Elgin case. The Gilbert-Shugart book lists this as a three-star watch (very rare) with a book value of about $600.
The dial is in excellent condition. Because everything is original from 1877, I have not cleaned the tarnish from the case but if the buyer wants to do so, it would look crisp. It is signed coin silver, Elgin National Watch Co. (Elgin NW Co.) Everything on it original and comes from the watchmaker\'s collection. A key is included (not the original key, I don\'t think). It has a smooth balance which turns freely with no wobble and the staff is NOT broken. But it could use a cleaning because it is a little sticky. It will wind fully but will stop on and off so offer with that knowledge.
