Custom design for PARADE or CIRCUS RINGMASTER?

This whistle is obviously hand-crafted and ridiculously ornate, featuring repousse panels, massive engraving, wire-twist cables and a solid bird applique with \"GEMSTONE\" EYES*.

Considerable signs of use are evident overall, to include numerous tooth marks on the mouthpiece, wear on highest points and damage to each of the birds eyes.

*Each clear/white eye is a faceted cabochon, (with few facets, and although I\'m unsure of the correct terminology I think they would best be described as antique \"mine-cut\"... or \"rose-cut\" stones). HOWEVER, these may actually be molded glass or paste: It\'s a bit difficult to tell for sure, because each eye is chipped to some degree. My only certainty here is that THEY ARE NOT DIAMONDS.

When I first looked at this piece, I was initially convinced that the whistle had been slightly deformed over time, as the bird appears to be sitting low, in comparison to the rest of the whistle... but instead, I think it was intentionally lowered (as if sitting in a nest), so that the wing tips are not protruding excessively.

Whatever the case, this is certainly an unusual and handsome piece.

I have been unable to identify any markings, but there are a couple of spots on the upper side of the mouthpiece, which might well be remnants of an original maker\'s mark.
