In the 1950\'s and 1960\'s there was a big movement towards uncovering and discovering the many ruins found down in Mexico and South America. As the archealogist dug, they found more and more evidence that supported the Book of Mormon.During this time period there weremany LDS writers, like Paul R. Cheesman whopublished many books showing the correlation between thediscoveries and the Book of Mormon.

Obviously the Church saw this as a great missionary opportunity and began to create pamphletes and such to help both members and non-members to see the connnection. The goal was not to show evidence to prove the Book of Mormon was true, but more as a way of educating individuals about the many new discoveries.

It was during this period that the Church took an unprecedented step and published a Book of Mormon with a new format. This Book of Mormon was a verylarge hardback book 10.5\" by 7.5\" with large print and filled with numerous photos and illustrations throughout the book. Basically the photographs and illustrations fall intoone of three different categories.... 1)Pictures helping to depict the story of the Book of Mormon; 2) Photographs or portraits that helped members to better seethe history of the origin of theBook of Mormon; and 3) Photographs and illustrations that reveal the history and culture of the ancientcivilization who lived in South and CenteralAmerica.

The regular size Book of Mormon continued to be printed -- this Book of Mormon was a special Book of Mormon that the Church felt was something that members and non-members could have the opportunity to own and would be more like a Family Book of Mormon. Because of the nature of this book it was was not widely printed or distributed like the other editions of the Book of Mormon.

Because of this and because of the book\'s uniqueness this Book of Mormon has become highly sought after for several years now. Because of all these circumstances it has becomeEXTREMELY DIFFICULT, if not IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND COPIES, especially copies that are still in goodcondition.

This Book of Mormonmeasures 10 1/2inches tall and 7 1/2inches wide and contains large print.

One of the main features that makes this particular book so unique is the number ofphotographs found within it -- and the types of photographs that are printed. This edition of the Book of Mormon has more photographs than any other Book of Mormon that had ever been published. As mentioned above thephotographs and pictures can be catagorized into three specific areas:
