A rare pair of Georgian silver plated asparagus tongs of classic form, the arms being in the fiddleback pattern and the inners of the blades being ridged.
They were made by Joseph Rogers and Sons of Sheffield during the 1820 period this being confirmed by the \'Old Sheffield Plate\' maker\'s mark listed in the Mappin Guide. There is a stylish monogram initial to the bow.
The tongs are in remarkable condition for their age and purpose, there are just small signs of service to the edges as is the norm for pieces of this age. Otherwise they possess a good healthy shine, display well and are definitely fit for purpose. A good robust pair.
