RARE TENNIS ART BY KAMIL KUBIK 1981 US OPEN FLUSHING MEADOW - McENROE VS BORG:
$299.00

This sale is for this beautiful serigraph of the 1981 US OPEN Tennis Finals I believe was played between McEnroe and Borg....definitely at Flushing Meadow. This is the same print that was used by the USTA on their 100th Anniversary Poster that Kamil also created for them to honor that special event. This is a very rare print since there is only 1 of these left....JUST ONE........the rest have been sold. It is signed in pencil by the artist and is unframed. The following information is from the internet and so I can\'t confirm that it\'s accurate although it certainly seemed to be.

The 1981 US OPEN was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts at the USTA National Tennis Center in New York City. It was the 101st edition of the US OPEN and was held from September 1 - September 13, 1981. John McEnroe defeated Bjorn Borg 4-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3. It was McEnroe\'s 4th career Grand Slam Title and his 3rd US Open Title. Kamil Kubik was the Official Artist for this 1981 Tennis event.

Several stories have been written about Kamil and his love of theseartistic / athleticevents. Like many ofKubik\'s beautiful paintings, this serigraph was painted during theyears that Kamil and his wife Joanna were living andsettling down in New York City.It was one of his early UScommissions and he loved the opportunity to be a part ofsuch memorableevents. This print isapproximately 24 x 27\", a very nice size with a wide white border. Please look closely at the photographs to see howKamil captured those historic tennis moments between two stars of the sport of Tennis.

Everything he does is just so perfectly detailed and soappropriate for the whatever the subject may be. Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of watching him paint or looking at his work can easily understand how gifted he was.

Kamil Kubikwas a very well known Impressionist and an artist with a richinternational history. After traveling and painting throughout the world, heand his newwife, a famous Prima Ballerina, finally settled into New York City\'s world of art, establishing a gallery inside the Plaza Hotel and starting his new business.First Lady, Barbara Bush and her daughter were in New York when her husband was with the United Nations andthey happened to wander into this new Gallery of Art.Mrs. Bush fell in love with the art she saw and left with a painting that was a gift from the artist. Yes, Kamil Kubik was giving away his masterpieces even then. When her husband became President, Kamil was invited tocome to Washington DCto paint the President\'s Inauguration, a painting that now hangs in the Bush Library in Texas. It was the beginning ofhis long andvery prolific career as an artist in the U.S. As anImpressionist, he loved painting architecture, all cities and their busy streets and landmarks. He was named the official artist for several US OPENTournaments in GOLF and TENNIS. The CEO of the NY Stock Exchange invited Kamil to paint a series of Wall Street art....all ofwhich is spectacular. He worked with Donald Trump who called Kamil \"my favorite artist\" in a letter to a friend. He also officially paintedfor the NY CITY MARATHON, the NY YANKEE Organization, THE ST. PATRICK\'S DAY PARADE, The GREEK PARADE and the COLUMBUS DAY PARADE. There are numerous prints of Central Parkandother NY City Landmarks. The head of the RITZ CARLTON HOTEL chain commissioned Kamil to paint every hotel they operated, world-wide. Unfortunately, Kamil\'s poor health prevented him from finishing that amazing project. His bio is long and impressive and his art is the same. The few Kubik Originals that remain for sale are priced in the$3000 - $10,000 range while his prints average at $500 with some lower and others ....the most unique, limited or veryrare ..... priced higher.Dealer prices are generally higher overall, and for obvious reasons.

Any print that I sell has been signed byKamilunless otherwise indicated and they are all unframed. You may return a print you purchasewithin one week if for some reasonit isn\'t what you wanted....doesn\'t fit, etc. Return Shipping is paid by the buyer. Please contact me if you have any questions or are interested in another of Kamil\'s paintings....prints or originals. I am happy to help as best I can. I am not a student of art or a dealer so I honestly don\'t know much about art in general....just Kamil and his work.It is important to me that people understand that I am selling Kamil\'s art but am nowhere near an expert on the subject of art. I am planning to sell his prints and a few originals that he has given to me through the years. He was an extremely generous man and always kind. It was not unusual for him to simply hand over a painting or print to someone.....often a stranger......just because they liked it. Like most artists, he was not driven by money, but rather the love of his craft. I adore his work and have it hangingthroughout my home. It surprises me that I never get tired of looking at any of it and am always happy to share it with anyone who seems interested. After workingclosely with him for 15+ years, I believe I know his extensive body of work. If you are searching for something specific orhave a question I cannot address, there are severalwonderfulpeople who also knew Kamil quite well that I can always turn to foradvice or information. I will always do my very best to help you,if possible.

I missKamil very, very much.He had suffered a terrible stroke and eventually passed away from the complications that finally ended his life. I was blessed to be sitting with him on the evening he died and will always consider thatto bea deeply personal gift. I like to think that he knew I was there, beside him, although he was sleeping soundly andcomfortably. The nurse was encouraging me to wake him, to let him know I was there but I preferred to let him sleep and simply held onto his hand. This manwasalways filled with such energy and he had the greatest enthusiasm for everything he did. But now, sleeping made the time pass for him.Once he could no longer paint or create these incredible paintings, I believe he no longer cared much about living.......or dying for that matter He hadenjoyed a remarkable life thatmost people only dream of living. He had painted for Kings, Countsand Presidents but really enjoyed the everyday people he met on the street. He wouldhand over his paintbrush to anyone whomight care to try, inviting them to add something to his current masterpiece. He was a one of a kind gentleman who wasfunny, generous and kind and helped me so much when he knew that was what I needed. He was a wonderful friend to me and hopefully, I to him. I have included a short bio of his amazing life that you can read if you just scroll down.It was an incredible life filled with experiences and moments that eventually brought him to us. What a wonderful gift he was to me.Happy offerding and email any questions.
