*THE MUSEUM IS PLEASED TO PRESENT ORIGINAL MATERIAL FROM THE KENNETH MACGOWAN ARCHIVE / FAMILY ESTATE COLLECTION - KENNETH MACGOWAN (1888-1963) WAS AN ACADEMY AWARD-WINNING FILM PRODUCER OF NUMEROUS PROJECTS SUCH AS \"LITTLE WOMEN\" (1934), WITH KATHERINE HEPBURN; \"STANLEY & LIVINGSTONE\" (1939); FRITZ LANG\'S \"MANHUNT\" (1941); HENRY FONDA\'S HITS, \"YOUNG MR. LINCOLN\" (1939) AND \"THE RETURN OF FRANK JAMES\"; AS WELL AS ALFRED HITCHCOCK\'S \"LIFEBOAT\" (1944). MR. MACGOWAN BEGAN HIS CAREER AS AN IMPORTANT THEATER CRITIC, WRITING SEVERAL SEMINAL BOOKS ON THE SUBJECT, AND RAN THE \"PROVINCETOWN PLAYHOUSE\" AS ITS PRODUCER, IN WHICH HE BEGAN HIS LIFE-LONG ASSOCIATION WITH EUGENE O\'NEILL. MACGOWAN RETURNED TO HIS THEATRICAL ROOTS AS CO-FOUNDER OF THE THEATER ARTS DEPARTMENT AT UCLA IN 1947 - MACGOWAN HALL STANDS ON THE UCLA CAMPUS AS A TRIBUTE TO HIS EFFORTS.
