Triebner Ens & Eckert, Volkstedt 1880\'sOn offer here is this fabulous hand painted porcelain figure group modeled after those at the entrance to the Champs-Élysées in Paris by the French sculptor; Guillaume Coustou the Elder (1677 - 1746).The delightful porcelain rendition here is well modelled, hand painted and has applied flecked gilding to the cloth draped over the horse\'s back.
At some time there may well have been a leather rein, this may have perished over time, but should be easy to replace.Volkstedt Porcelain; in 1875 Karl Ens Junior and the bookkeeper, Richard Eckert, joined Clemens Triebner as partners in forming the new entity;
Triebner, Ens & Eckert which operated under that name until 1895.This piece is one of over 50 rare and delightful figurines by the renowned Karl Ens studios, from a stunning collection of Volkstedt fine porcelains we have recently acquired from an estate.
All have a low starting price so here is a great opportunity to start or add to your collection.The so-called Marly Horses by Guillaume Coustou the Elder (1677 - 1746) were commissioned in 1739 for the park of the castle of Marly, the two carrara marble sculptures were transferred in 1794 to the entrance of the Champs-Élysées in Paris and replaced by cement copies in 1985.Condition Report
