This material is mined from a 2012 newlydiscovered deposit in North Carolina. The angle plated quartz form is rare or uncommon.
We are unable to photograph the true beauty and anomaly of this material, which is its beautiful fine druzy that sparkles when lit by sun or other appropriate lighting (incandescent, halogen, LED) & coupled with its mysterious form, which is a natural cast.

We do not think the photos captured the beauty of this stone. It is a beautiful configuration of druzy\'d faulted and annealed thin plated stone. Stone took an extensive amount of cleaning to remove all of the impacted clays out ofthe crevices, minor residual oxides

How this material was formed, for those interested.... This material is mined or prospected from a sole source deposit in North Carolina, mined from an ancient, estimated 600Ma (600 million years old), extinct \"petrified/hardened\" hot spring system or geothermalboiling chamber. You can imagine its once hot fluids now frozen in time. The quartz material appears to be formed primarily by layering, from the \"turn on/turn off\" of the system, like Old Faithful.Material plates or faulted/annealed plates are layered with micro-crystalline druzy - druse - drusy crystals. This deposit lies where the land has eroded away many hundreds of feet over millions of years to finally expose the boiling chamber veins. This chamber was very deep underground when the epithermal system was active, and when active, it precipitated bladed calcite and other minerals into pockets. Silica fluid eventually filled in any voids between the minerals or decomposing minerals, and over time, most if not allof theminerals decomposed into clays. Geode like structures then formed between any voids with the micro-crystalline druzy and leaving behind this very odd, unique and rare form of quartz.The system was created through a fault and with ours, the fault wasactive after formation of the material, thus many of the preconfigured pocket pieces were naturally broken at their weakest points. We have never found two pieces that are alike and have never seen any other material quite like it. Also, this quartz is porous and can be brittle, unlike any other quartz that we know of. We believe that it is a quartz material created by nature that is \"like ceramic or porcelain\". One can go on a journey just looking at the material details and how it transforms when its mico crystals hit the sun and sparkle.
