VERY, VERY RARE VINTAGE 15\" CHAD VALLEY FELT POOR CINDERELLA
Today, I am listing an exceptionally rare doll. She is Cinderella dressed in her rags. Made of felt by Chad Valley, she measures 15\" in height and is in incredible condition. Her body is made of flesh-colored felt cotton but her head is made of flesh-colored felt. She has painted blue eyes and red lips - the face paint is bright and perfect. Her blonde mohair wig is in its original set.Cinderella is dressed in her \"Poor Cinderella\" clothes. Her dress is sleeveless with a black felt bodice and an orange colored cotton skirt. It goes over her blue wrist-length cotton blouse. She also wears a white cotton apron and white cotton panties. The apron is somewhat yellowed with a couple of brown spots but would clean up beautifully if her new owner wanted to wash it. I think it adds to the poor look the way it is. Her headscarf matches the skirt of the dress and her shoes are black felt. What\'s interesting about the outfit is that the manufacturer took great care to create the \"rags\" look with cuts in the sleeves, apron and skirt.
Cinderella carries her broom which is sewn into her hand. She has her original wrist tag that says \"Chad Valley Hygienic Toys Made in England with a \"Seal of Purity\" on one side. The back side can be seen in the photos above. Her skirt is also tagged inside with a small cotton tag that reads Hygienic Toys, Made in England, Chad Valley Co. Ltd.
This doll is in exceptional condition with absolutely no holes, stains or odors. Her outfit is also (except for the apron as described) in wonderful condition with no stains or unintentional holes. The cuts and holes that are shown in the photographs were made by the manufacturer.
Cinderella has been in my personal collection for more than twenty years and has been stored in a dust-free glass case in our smoke-free home. This is truly a wonderful doll that is now looking for a new home as we retire and down-size. She would be an excellent to your doll, Cinderella or general Disney collection.
