The pictures are printed on fabric and appliqued into the design. In the center of the quilt there is a picture of the White House memorializing his presidency. Above and below the White House are pictures of West Point, the US Military Academy where he graduated from with a commission as second lieutenant. On the far right there is a picture of Abilene, Texas where he was raised and grew up. Below that, there is a picture of Columbia University, which represents the time in 1948 when he served as their president. On the right side there is a picture of Denver and one of Gettysburg. The Denver picture represents the early years of his military career, after graduation from West Point, when he was stationed in Texas and met and married Mamie Geneva Doud from Denver, Colorado. The Gettysburg picture represents his vacation/retreat home that later became the place of his retirement. An elephant is appliqued under the White House picture and an eagle and shield is below.
