Magnificent solid bronze menorah sculpture by internationally recognized architect and artist Kenneth TreisterExceptionally heavy piece - weighs over 13 lbs11\" wide x 9 5/8\" tall and 2 7/8\" depthKenneth Treister is particularly known for his commissioned bronze memorial at the Miami Beach Holocaust Museum - a memorial to the memory of the Jewish culture and individuals. It is a limited edition hardback # 45 and is signed by artist Kenneth Treister and photographer Laszlo Regos.
I have an email document from the artist via a family member which tells the story of the menorah. It was sculpted for the Lubavitch Rabbe Menahem Schneerson, the head of Chabad-Lubavitch, Hasidic Judaism, in honor of his 74th birthday June 1975. A photo of the presentation was published in the New York Times. The memorial originally had a mahogany carved base that said Sabbath Shalom. The front of the bronze is the story told in Psalm 114:4, the mountains leaped like rams, the hills like lambs. The other side depicts the Rabbis holding high the Torah during the celebration of in Simchat Torah, in joyful celebration of the conclusion - and restart- of the annual Torah-reading cycle.
