REALLY RARE VTG ANTIQUE 1920\'S DENNISON DIE CUT, MR TOAD, LG ANGRY FROG:

This listing is for a really RARE Dennison party decoration - a large die cut \"Mr Toad\", or angry frog. I am not sure exactly what he was based on. He is from the 1920\'s - I have seen this fellow in one of their antique catalogs. Dennison was the leader, in the last century, in the manufacture of party decorations, crepe paper, and other party items. They also made office products, and at the end of the last century, were purchased by Avery, who only kept their office products (Avery Dennison). They were in business for most of the last century, and their older items are highly prized by collectors because of their quality and charm. This fellow is beautifully lithographed, and die cut from a nice medium weight card stock. Most of their existing paper die cuts are from the 1950\'s on, and will have darkened with age. This fellow, because he is so old, doesn\'t have the acid in the paper that the later pieces did, so he is nice and white on the back. I have some tiny 1920\'s Art Deco ducks for sale by Dennison that are the same way - 1920\'s, and really white on the back. As they moved into the 1930\'s (the Great Depression), Dennison used less expensive card stock which had more acid in it, which is what causes paper to brown over time. They continued using the less expensive paper right up through the 1950\'s. I tell you all this, so that you know this is really truly an antique piece, not a reproduction. He is in great condition, for his age. He has creases on his toes, and a tape scar on the back near his hole. He is 13 1/4\" long, and was made to hang from a string, or on the wall.
