Revolutionary War Benjamin Huntington Continental Congress Norwich Connecticut For Sale
An original manuscript court document prepared "In His Majesty's Name", and written only a few weeks after the first shots of the revolution at Lexington and Concord, and signed by a future member of the Continental Congress. Dated May 10, 1775, this warrant directs the Sheriff of the County of New London, Connecticut, to arrest or seize the property of Jedediah Wickwire to answer to Hezekiah Sage in court on a charge of theft of property. The plaintiff charges the defendent took a "Good new Silver Watch of the Best Kind with a China Face and a Green Seal...with force of arms and against the Mind and will of the Plaintiff". The deposition of Sheriff Prosper Wetmore is included indicating he has served the necessary warrants. Signed by BENJAMIN HUNTINGTON as Justice of the Peace. Size 7 1/4" x 12 1/2" [too large for scanner], folds, handmade rag paper, ver good condition.
