Incredible book being offered! The book is personally hand inscribed and signed by Rockwell Kent - located on the second frontispiece page underneath the circular illustration that reads \"Leaves of Grass\". The hand written inscription reads, \'Inscribed for Gertrude Andrus by a very dearest friend of hers - ours\' Signed \'Rockwell Kent, Seattle, March, 1937\' A wonderful, Heritage Press, New York and Nonesuch Press, London, known as Dual Imprints Edition of Walt Whitman\'s \"Leaves of Grass\". Four pages in from the back of the book are the date book was printed, \"Designed and Illustrated by Rockwell Kent with Typography by William A Kittredge. This book was printed at Lakeside Press Chicago, 1936. Set in Bodoni font. The book is in great condition. Nice beautiful green linen binding for the boards. The gold inlay detail on the top of the front cover and the spine still stands out well. Please look at pictures and read condition description. The original owner of the book, Gertrude Andrus (1879-1974), is a bit of a Seattle library pioneer. She worked for the library from 1891 to 1946. She had a huge role in improving the library\'s services for children and was a champion and spoke publicly about children\'s literature. The original invoice taped to the inside of the book is from a prominent Seattle bookseller, Robert W. Mattila. He passed away in 2003, so the invoice probably dates after 1974 Gertrude Andrus\' passing and before 2003. I did not want to remove the invoice and tear the inside board paper. There is just one tape strip along top of invoice and inside board.
